Office : Tribu architecture
Tribu architecture has developed an educational
program for schools in the city of Lausanne. I participated in this project as
a speaker in classes.
The objective is to explain to children the job
of an architect, why houses are shaped as they are, and how the city is built.
The course is comprise of several lessons, as well as one visit and one
exercise.
It is a way to increase future citizens’
awareness but also to understand what affects children, what doesn’t interest
them and what their claims are.
How would they construct their own city ?
Is the city adapted to the needs of children?
I am particularly interested in the pedagogical
and participatory side of urbanism. Thanks to this experience and others, I observed
that exchange and communication were essentials in urban planning.
Public participation can be a good source of information, for example in
defining specifications for district-planning.
